The August bank holiday heralds the end of summer for many, thoughts turn to schools going back for the autumn term following the long summer holiday break. For some the shorter days and longer nights heralds a time for seeking out new activities, or going to night classes to learn a new skill, please if there is something that you would like to do, but have no one to go with, share it with the Going Together members, who knows there may be someone just like you, wanting to broaden their horizons, but do not feel confident doing it on their own. East Riding College has a lot of academic and non-academic courses available check out their website for further details. You may also be wanting to get fit, and increase your stamina, there are lots of different classes available at the East Riding Leisure Centres, check it out, who knows there may even be some classes available that you are unaware of….. time to start exploring new ideas!

Monthly Lunchtime Meeting

Going Together had a lovely lunchtime get together at the Rose and Crown, regular monthly meetups are held the first Friday of the month, giving chance for members to meet the team and members. August’s meeting was attended by new members Shelia, Anne, Lyn and Angie, it was lovely to meet them for the first time, everyone got on well and had plenty to chat about! Maggie as per usual was talking far too much and somehow managed to miss ordering lunch… err can’t think how she managed that! The food was tasty and enjoyed by all…except Maggie of course lol!

The next monthly meeting is being held on the 2nd September at the Rose and Crown Beverley, from 11.30am to 2.00pm.  It would be great to see you there. It is on an informal basis, no pressure to dine, it is an opportunity to meet others and discuss ideas. Hope to see you there.

The Potting Shed

Going Together also met for the opening of the Potting Shed, Maggie from the Going Together team was privileged to be at the VIP launch night the evening before, she attended with friend and Going Together member Pauline, and had great fun mixing with the celebrities Marcus and Sam from the TV show Big Brother and also Anton from the X Factor. Photos were taken, Prosecco flowed freely and lots of food and musical entertainment, a good night was enjoyed by them both, helped along by the wonderful crowd of people who attended. The atmosphere was amazing.

The Going Together meetup, the following evening, was just as entertaining (well almost) it was lovely to meetup with new members Patricia, Kate and Jules, it is such a great feeling when everyone gets on, has fun and you leave feeling happy that you went. We truly hope our members felt the same! It was a shame that Stella, who instigated the event could not attend owing to a health problem, and Denise was too shattered after having her two Grandchildren….. No stamina Denise we will have to sort it!!! Thanks to everyone who came, hope to meet up with you again soon.

Private Screening of Bridget Jones Baby

Following the huge success of the private screening of the Ab Fab film at the Parkway Cinema, another private screening has been arranged this time it is Bridget Jones Baby which is to raise funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research on the 18th September 2016. For any members who did not attend it was a brilliant event, so much fun and well worth the £20 ticket fee.

This event is on the same basis as the Ab Fab Night, glass of fizz, canapes… supposedly served by waiters in the buff, we’ll wait and see if that happens, following the shy guys of the last event who remained fully clothed!!!. Entertainment from Gina Jenkinson, followed by the film. A lot of Going Together members supported the last event and it is hoped that they are just as supportive for this one. Tickets are available from Parkway Cinema telephone 01482 968090 for details. Don’t leave it too late to get your ticket!!
